NEW ORLEANS | In a wheelchair and with his left leg isolated, C.J. Mosley was rolled out of the training room after the University of Alabama's 21-0 win over LSU in the BCS National Championship Game.

Along the hallway, they lined up.
Vinnie Sunseri, Nico Johnson, Chance Warmack and others, all with encouragement for the Crimson Tide sophomore who made an interception on his last play to help the championship cause. Mosley sustained an injury - UA linebacker Nico Johnson said he understood it to be a hip dislocation - when LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson made the tackle on Mosley's third-quarter interception. The severity of the injury and how long Mosley will need to recover remains unclear.
Johnson said he was especially disappointed for Mosley.
"I was the host when C.J. was being recruited, so C.J. is like a little brother to me," Johnson said. "When he got hurt, I was hoping everything was OK. ... You never know when a career injury is going to come. I'm glad it wasn't worse."
Mosley, a sophomore, picked off Jefferson in the second half for the only interception of the game when the LSU quarterback pitched the ball forward like a shovel pass after the play had broken down. The pitch fell directly into Mosley's hands, but Jefferson almost immediately made the tackle. Mosley fell awkwardly and was eventually taken off the field on a golf cart.
Several UA defenders, including linebacker Dont'a Hightower and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick had some parting words for Mosley as he waved to the crowd to chants of "C.J., C.J." in a Superdome nearly half-filled with Alabama fans.
"I told him we were going to bring it home for him," Hightower said. "I didn't even exactly see what happened. I saw him get tackled, and I came to help him up and he was hurt."
Mosley also had a 3-yard tackle for loss for the Crimson Tide, one of 11 tackles for loss by the defense. LSU managed only 39 rushing yards and 53 by pass.
"I felt like the ref should have called the horse-collar (penalty) on the play," Kirkpatrick said. "I was very upset because I love everybody that plays on this team, man. I took it personal that it happened to C.J. Hopefully, it is going to be alright for him."
Mosley was replaced in the lineup by freshman Trey DePriest, who finished the game with two tackles.
"When he went down, I knew I had to step up," DePriest said. "I did my assignment and did what I had to do."
Mosley later returned to the field on crutches, by which time the UA defense had nearly completed a dominant performance. It was the first shutout in a BCS National Championship Game. Linebackers Courtney Upshaw and Jerrell Harris led the team with seven tackles each, while 10 different Crimson Tide defenders were credited on a tackle for loss.
"We just could not sustain the run," LSU coach Les Miles said. "And we couldn't run for first downs. And suddenly you were completely behind in the change (of possession). And frankly, when you line up and throw balls against that defense when it's an obvious passing situation, they come to the line of scrimmage. They come to the passer."
Defensive end Jesse Williams said Mosley was missed as a key to the Alabama defense.
"That's a tough way to end. I really feel for him," Williams said. "I gave everything I had for C.J. We came together in the end and finished strong."
Mosley dislocated his elbow earlier in the season and missed some midseason action as a result.
