Conference play kicks off for No. 1 Alabama (3-0) this week in what will be a surprisingly intriguing matchup against Vanderbilt (3-0) as the Crimson Tide travels to Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT. Alabama enters the game clicking on offense after putting together back to back 41-point performances. However, last week’s game against Colorado State saw the Tide give up a season-high 23 points and might have exposed some holes on defense.

Vanderbilt enters the matchup fresh off a 14-7 upset of then No. 18 ranked Kansas State last week, its first win over a ranked non-SEC opponent since 1946. The Commodores lead the nation in total defense, giving up just 198.3 yards per game, and present one of the most efficient quarterbacks in college football in Kyle Shurmur. While Alabama is an 18.5 favorite, according to VegasInsider.com, the Tide will have to clean up several areas of its game if it wants to start SEC play with a win for a 13th straight year.
