TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Thanks to a little help from backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama’s roster for Saturday’s A-Day Game was released a little earlier this year. The early enrollee tweeted out pictures of both the Crimson and White teams Thursday night, providing a sneak peek for the scrimmage.

While the roster might not be an exact version of the Crimson Tide’s “rep chart” as it wraps up spring camp, it does provide some clues as to where some Alabama players stand right now.

Here is a list of both rosters and what it could mean for Alabama moving forward:

OFFENSE

Offensive line (Crimson)

Bradley Bozeman

Lester Cotton

Richie Petitbon

Ross Pierschbacher

Jonah Williams

Matt Womack

Dallas Warmack

Notes: Alabama will most likely use the starting lineup it has favored this spring with Jonah Williams, Ross Pierschbacher, Bradley Bozeman, Lester Cotton and Matt Womack lining up from left to right. The left side of the line seems set and hasn’t changed this spring. On the right side, Lester Cotton can play at either guard or tackle, but it appears Alabama wants him at guard. A-Day will be a big opportunity for Matt Womack to show he has what it takes to stick at right tackle.

Offensive line (White)

Elliot Baker

Deonte Brown

Josh Casher

J.C. Hassenauer

Brandon Kennedy

Scott Lashley

Alex Leatherwood

Chris Owens

Notes: With Cotton at right guard, it bumps Deonte Brown back to the second-team offense. Brown could be indirectly battling with Womack on Saturday, as Cotton could shift back to the tackle position if Brown earns a spot at right guard. Alabama will most likely line up with Scott Lashley, Josh Casher, J.C. Hassenauer, Deonte Brown and Alex Leatherwood from left to right in the scrimmage. Leatherwood is another one to watch out for at the right tackle position.

Quarterbacks (Crimson)

Jalen Hurts

Jackson Carpenter

Notes: Not much to say here. As the starter, Jalen Hurts gets a spot on the Crimson team where he will go up against the Tide’s first-team defense. That should be a good test of his maturity as a passer.

Quarterbacks (White)

Mac Jones

Tua Tagovailoa

Notes: The battle for the backup spot at quarterback should gather plenty of attention as Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones dual it out Saturday. In practice, Tagovailoa appears to have the edge on the “rep chart,” but a strong showing from Jones on A-Day could establish some momentum moving forward.

Running backs (Crimson)

Josh Jacobs

Brian Robinson

Kendall Norris

Notes: With fellow returning starters Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris out, Josh Jacobs gets the nod as the starter on Alabama’s first-team offense. Brian Robinson will be one to watch as he battles with fellow early enrollee Najee Harris for playing time.

Running backs (White)

Najee Harris

Zavier Mapp

De’Marquise Lockridge

Notes: As the only scholarship running back on the White team, Najee Harris should get plenty of reps. Reports from previous scrimmages have him hurdling over multiple defenders, so he’ll look to put on a similar show in from of Alabama fans Saturday.

Wide receivers (Crimson)

Robert Foster

Derek Kief

Calvin Ridley

Tyrell Shavers

Cam Sims

Chadarius Townsend

Chris Herring

Jonathan Rice

Notes: Alabama’s first three receivers during practice have been Calvin Ridley, Robert Foster and Cam Sims. Those three should get the starting nod for the Crimson team on A-Day. Early enrollees Tyrell Shavers and Chadarius Townsend will be interesting to watch.

Wide receivers (White)

Jerry Jeudy

Xavian Marks

T.J. Simmons

Donnie Lee

Austin Johnson

Mac Hereford

Swade Hutchinson

Jonathon Adams

John Parker

Notes: The first three receivers listed appear to be the three that will start for the White team in the scrimmage. Early enrollee Jerry Jeudy and T.J. Simmons will likely get the start as outside receivers, while Xavian Marks works out of the slot. It would appear those three are the next in line for first-team snaps, so a good performance against a young Crimson secondary might help them climb their way up the “rep chart.”

Tight ends (Crimson)

Miller Forristall

Hale Hentges

Jacob Parker

Hunter Bryant

Notes: Miller Forristall and Hale Hentges will most likely play on the field together at some point next season and are the two leading tight ends on the “rep chart.” It will be interesting to see what packages Alabama uses them in and how often they are involved in the passing game.

Tight ends (White)

Ronnie Clark

Irv Smith

Major Tennison

Giles Amos

Sean Goodman

Joseph Harvey

Cody Shaw

Michael Parrott

Brendan Hobbs

Notes: Irv Smith is someone who has generated plenty of noise at the tight end position this spring. According to Al.com, the 6-foot-4, 243-pounder ran a 4.59 in the 40-yard dash and bench-pressed 425 pounds. Another player to look out for is early enrollee Major Tennison, who Alabama head coach Nick Saban compared to O.J. Howard earlier this spring.

DEFENSE

Defensive line (White)

Isaiah Buggs

Da’shawn Hand

Da’Ron Payne

O.J. Smith

Quinnen Williams

Notes: Despite being seen primarily with the second unit during the media viewing period of practice, Isaiah Buggs finds himself with the first team for A-Day. He should start along with Da’Ron Payne and Da’Shawn Hand. Redshirt sophomore Qunninen Williams is another one to watch.

Defensive line (Crimson)

Raekwon Davis

Johnny Dwight

Josh Frazier

Jamar King

Vohn Keith Jr.

Daniel Powell

Taylor Wilson

Notes: It will be interesting to see who Alabama will start. The most likely combination will be Josh Frazier in the middle with Raekwon Davis and Jamar King on either side. Davis has been working with the first unit during practice and appears to be competing with Buggs for the final spot on the starting defensive line.

Outside linebackers (White)

Mekhi Brown

Anfernee Jennings

Christian Miller

Notes: Christian Miller and Anfernee Jennings will get the start at outside linebacker on the first-team defense. Miller should play in the Sam role, while Jennings should line up as the Jack.

Outside linebackers (Crimson)

Ben Davis

Terrell Hall

Jamey Mosley

Tucker Riddick

Notes: Terrell Hall will be competing with Jennings for a starting role next season. Miller called that as fierce of a battle as any other position this spring. It’s interesting to see Ben Davis move back to outside linebacker. He started there this spring before moving to inside recently.

Middle linebackers (White)

Rahsaan Evans

Keith Holcombe

Josh McMillon

Notes: To no surprise, Rashaan Evans and Keith Holcombe will earn the start on the first team defense. Shaun Dion Hamilton (ACL) will not participate in A-Day but projects to retake his spot alongside Evans once he returns from his injury.

Middle linebackers (Crimson)

Shawn Jennings

Dylan Moses

Mack Wilson

Ryan Burns

Notes: With Ben Davis scrimmaging at outside linebacker, it takes some of the drama away from who will start inside for the Crimson team. Those two spots should go to Mack Wilson and early enrollee Dylan Moses, both of whom could see playing time on defense next season. A linebacking unit of Wilson, Moses, Hall and Davis could be a glimpse at the future for the Tide.

Defensive backs (White)

Keaton Anderson

Anthony Averett

Tony Brown

Trevon Diggs

Minkah Fitzpatrick

Ronnie Harrison

Nigel Knott

Jeffery Stacy

Desmond Kersh

Notes: The first-team secondary has remained the same for a while. Anthony Averett and Trevon Diggs should be the corners with Ronnie Harrison and Minkah Fitzpatrick as the safeties. Tony Brown will line up at Star. It will be worth noting whether or not Fitzpatrick lines up at corner at any point in the scrimmage.

Defensive backs (Crimson)

Shyheim Carter

Hootie Jones

Kyriq McDonald

Xavier McKinney

Aaron Robinson

Levi Wallace

Daniel Wright

Bo Grant

Parker Bearden

Andrew Heath

Donovan Mosley

Notes: This is the area where Alabama has struggled the most this spring. The Tide’s depth at the position took another hit as backup free safety Deionte Thompson was arrested for his part in an alleged spring break felony assault back in Texas. With Thompson not participating in the game, it might open up a spot for early enrollee Xavier McKinney. Levi Wallace and Aaron Robinson should get the look at cornerback, with Hootie Jones at the other safety position. Shyheim Carter should start at Star.
