Alabama’s record draft class continues to grow. Defensive tackle Joshua Frazier became the 12th former Crimson Tide player off the board when he was selected by the by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the No. 246 pick overall in the seventh round of the NFL Draft on Saturday. The 12 selections mark a new SEC record and top Alabama’s previous best of 10 set last season.

Frazier joins Minkah Fitzpatrick (No. 11, Miami Dolphins), Payne (No. 13, Washington Redskins), Rashaan Evans (No. 22, Tennessee Titans) Calvin Ridley (No. 26, Atlanta Falcons), Ronnie Harrison (No. 93, Jacksonville Jaguars), Da’Shawn Hand (No. 114, Detroit Lions), Anthony Averett (No. 118, Baltimore Ravens), JK Scott (No. 172, Green Bay Packers), Shaun Dion Hamilton (No. 197, Washington Redskins), Bradley Bozeman (No. 215, Baltimore Ravens) and Bo Scarbrough (No. 236, Dallas Cowboys) in this year’s Alabama draft class.

Frazier was overshadowed the past two seasons while backing up for Payne at nose tackle. Still, he played in all 14 games, tallying 15 tackles, 2.5 for a loss, with a forced fumble and three quarterback hurries.

The 6-foot-3, 321-pound defensive tackle surprised some when he was invited to the NFL Combine in March. He’ll look to turn a few more heads by making the Steelers roster this season.
