— Nate Oats is set to make his debut as Alabama’s 21st men’s basketball coach. Alabama’s past six head coaches — Avery Johnson, Anthony Grant, Mark Gottfried, David Hobbs, Wimp Sanderson and C.M. Newton — have gone a combined 3-3 in their debut games.
— Kira Lewis earned preseason All-SEC first-team honors from conference coaches. The starting point guard earned SEC All-Freshman honors last season, leading the team in scoring average (13.5) and assists (2.9) per game
