It's not often an unknown (at least to the Crimson Tide) arrives in Tuscaloosa for camp in mid-July with single digit offers and completely shocks the Alabama coaching staff.

Jarrett Bell, offensive guard from Norco High School in California, turned a lot of heads. He impressed Nick Saban, and offensive line coach Brent Key enough to earn a scholarship offer.

* Five-star DE Micah Parsons talks Alabama visit & what's next

"I've been in Tuscaloosa since Sunday," Bell said. "We watched the first practice. We met with the coaches. The following morning is when I did the camp. I competed my ass off. I made sure I was the most physical and competitive player there.

"I think I turned the coaches heads with my athleticism and ability which I've received with my trainer. I did excellent in the one-on-ones. I think I only lost once. The coaches wanted me to watch practice today, and then talk to them a little bit.

"Coach Saban wanted to see me in his office. He offered me. It was the craziest feeling in the world. He has a button that just shuts the door. It was amazing to be in there. It's amazing just the way he talks. He doesn't talk about football. He cares about your life and about academics. It's amazing how he represents himself and the school.

"The facilities were amazing. They are top notch. Some people showed us around. We saw the stadium. Everything they have to offer makes you a better player. They are trying to help athletes get better.

"The coaching is amazing. The weight training coach (Scott Cochran) is amazing. I love his energy. I love the o-line coaches. They were very energetic. I love that about coaches. They go out there and are fired up."

What made the biggest impression about Alabama?

"First off- I love the coaching staff, " Bell said. "It's amazing how involved they are with everyone. They make sure everything is perfect. They make sure you are performing to best of your abilities. They are there to build champions.

"This definitely puts Alabama as one of may top dogs. It's a great option. I just have to talk to my parents and let them know what's going on. I went with my athletic trainer, Jordan Campbell. I will definitely come back during the season. Hopefully, for an official visit."

Bell is receiving the most attention from Pac-12 schools like Washington State, Arizona. He was recently named the MVP of the USC camp. He is also hearing a lot from UCLA.
