TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Sophomore wide receiver T.J. Simmons announced Sunday that he will be transferring to West Virginia through a post on his Twitter account.
Simmons did not record a reception for Alabama during his freshman season last year. However, he did earn a role on special teams where he recorded his first career tackle against Western Kentucky. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound receiver saw action in 12 games and was expected to have a bigger role with the team this season. During Alabama's A-Day scrimmage, he tallied six receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown.
A former four-star receiver out of Pinson, Ala., Simmons came to the Crimson Tide as the No. 57 receiver in the 2016 class. He joins Shawn Jennings and O.J. Smith as players to transfer out of Alabama's program this offseason.
