As the college football world heads into the month of November, there are five undefeated teams within the AP and Coaches Top 25 rankings and today, we take a closer look at season wins, who’s left, as the college football playoffs are now in sight.

The Top Four

Obviously, at the top is the Alabama Crimson Tide with a perfect record of 8-0. No one has laid a punch on Alabama, but with that said, have they played anyone worth mentioning this year? Their best season win is against Texas A&M. Overall, Alabama has the best on the field and has the best coach on the podium, but they have yet to have been punched in the mouth this season. November will not be easy for Alabama with LSU heading to Tuscaloosa, a tough road game against Mississippi State, Mercer is a final warm-up, before the Iron Bowl against Auburn. Alabama will be the favorite in the remaining games this season, but as Nick Saban said after their win over Tennessee, their toughest games lay ahead of them.

Georgia is clearly next in line following Alabama. The college football playoff committee could argue that Georgia has played a tougher schedule than Alabama with that win over Notre Dame looking better and better as the Irish at 7-1 continue to climb the polls. The Bulldogs have South Carolina, a trip to Auburn, Kentucky, and a rivalry game with Georgia Tech left for the month of November, that trip to Auburn is going to be tough for anyone.

Comparing Alabama vs. Georgia

Yes, Wisconsin at the number three spot after Alabama and Georgia. While the Badgers are undefeated, their schedule is very light with their best win coming against Northwestern who is 5-3 on the season. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a top five team fall and with Wisconsin having Iowa and Michigan left on the schedule college football experts would circle those two games are potential pitfalls for the Badgers.

Ohio State 7-1 with their win Saturday defeating the previous number two ranked Nittany Lions 39-38 is a marquee victory that will impress the playoff committee and the fact that their loss comes against another Top 10 team should not hurt them and as you know if you are going to lose, lose early. Big late-season victories overshadow early season losses. The Buckeyes still have a tough road ahead of them with a game on the road against Iowa, then take on Michigan State, and then travel to the Big House to take on Michigan, so as you can see, their ticket is not punched just yet.

Still In The Hunt

Miami is looking pretty right now at 7-0 despite their ugly performance against North Carolina on Saturday barely hanging on to win 24-19 against a 1-8 team. They beat Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse, a team which defeated Clemson. The Hurricanes have Virginia Tech and then host Notre Dame in what should be a prime-time showdown.

The Fighting Irish are 7-1 with their only loss coming against Georgia losing 20-19. Notre Dame’s remaining schedule includes Wake Forest, a trip to Miami, Navy, and then they head to Stanford. There are plenty that feel Notre Dame deserves to be in the top four because of their one-point loss to undefeated Georgia and lately they are playing like it blowing out USC 49-14 and NC State this past Saturday 35-14.

Penn State is still in the mix even after their 39-38 loss to Ohio State. The Nittany Lions have to hope for Ohio State to drop two conference games which could happen as the Buckeyes as mentioned still have Michigan State and Michigan remaining. If Penn State is able to win out against Michigan State, Rutgers, Nebraska, and Maryland and then defeat the Big 10 West Champion (right now Wisconsin), the Nittany Lions would float back up to the top, top four? It’s possible.

One Loss Hopefuls

Oklahoma, Clemson, TCU, Washington, and Oklahoma State are not out just yet. The Sooner’s early loss to Iowa State 38-31 does not look so bad now with the Cyclones picking off top teams weekly. Clemson has a very ugly loss to Syracuse but has a very favorable back-end schedule with NC State, Florida State, Citadel, and South Carolina left. TCU losing to Iowa State 14-7 is not a terrible loss, but they’ll have to win out and that will be tough to do with Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Baylor remaining.

Washington and Oklahoma State both sit at 7-1. Washington lost to unranked Arizona State 13-7 but should remain the favorite in their remaining games against Oregon, Stanford, Utah, and Washington State. Oklahoma State lost to TCU, which is not a terrible loss and will take on Oklahoma next weekend, then travel to Iowa State, then finish with the two Kansas schools.

I remember Oklahoma going into the horseshoe and dominating OSU. Not only are many people ranking OSU higher they are ranking PSU higher also. OU’s defense has looked porous but they should get some credit for the beat down they put on OSU.

1. Alabama

2. Georgia

3. Notre Dame

4. Ohio State

5. Clemson

6. Wisconsin

In my eyes these are the best teams in college football right now, just how I see it. Wisconsin hasn’t lost I know but they haven’t had to play Penn State or Ohio State, I do think Clemson is better overall. Notre Dame has been very impressive and just keeps getting better every week

I think that Georgia may get some first place votes. Georgia will be a very, very tough opponent down the line for us. They have outstanding athletes on both sides of the ball. I can imagine a game with Georgia much like the 2012 SECCG. Georgia offensively has a gifted QB and two outstanding RBs. Chubb is having an outstanding year. Their defense does look a lot like ours.

1) Alabama

2) Georgia

3) Wisconsin (until they lose, which they will)

4) OU (Still a team to be reckoned with. We can talk no D all night, but when the time comes, they will play ball when they have a rested unit).

5) Clemson Until they lose a game, their D alone keeps them in this conversation. Just to throw in someone else..... ND. They play a very tough schedule, and as long as they keep winning, they will earn their way in.I believe Whisky falls out. Not sure about GA. They still have aubie and SECCG. So far very impressive. Those 2 games will decide their fate. We still have a ways to go. MSU, LSU, and aubie. Those are all tough games. And hopefully the SECCG.
