Give Nick Saban a month to recruit, and he will sign a top 10 recruiting class. That's what happened in 2007 when Saban held on to the eventual Butkus Award winner and All-American, Rolando McClain. He also decided guys like Josh Chapman (who flipped from Auburn) and William Vlachos should come in with the 2007 class. He also extended a late offer to Marquis Maze who was a heavy lean to Michigan. McClain was the first true Alpha Dog of the Saban era in Tuscaloosa despite his off-the-field issues after college.

The foundation

Give Nick Saban a year, and he will sign the best class in the country. That's what happened in 2008 when the Crimson Tide inked its first No. 1 class with Coach Saban. Alabama signed a pair of NFL Pro Bowlers from within the state borders in Julio Jones (the best WR in the NFL) and defensive tackle Marcell Dareus.

Alabama did not miss on many of its top in-state targets throughout the last several years. Five-star after five-star; 1st round draft pick after 1st round draft pick. A lot of these guys made forever lasting plays. All won at least one national championship. Many were All-Americans and All-SEC performers.

Many top former in-state players are set to shine for the Crimson Tide this fall. Of course, a few of these players are household names to Alabama fans. Will they add on to their legacy like the players mentioned above?

Forward

This was a glimpse back at several in-state players signed by the Crimson Tide from 2007-2017. Nick Saban can recruit the best players from coast-to-coast, but will always focus on signing the best in-state. They have collected plenty of hardware.
