The University of Alabama extended a scholarship offer to one of the top in-state athletes on Wednesday. The Mountain Brook star spoke with Andrew Bone about the Tide offer.

Harold Joiner, three-star athlete from Mountain Brook High School in Alabama, has a plethora of scholarship offers from schools across the country. He was missing was a big one from the University of Alabama. That changed on Wednesday afternoon when he took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa.

"It was exciting," Joiner said. "I kind of knew it was coming. Coach Key told me to come down because Coach Saban had some good news for me. My dad, his friend and one of my friends went down there with me.

"Coach Saban said I am a great running back. He said I can switch around to different positions. I can play H-Back, wide receiver, linebacker or running back. It was exciting to get the offer. Who wouldn't be excited to get an offer from Alabama?

"I talked to all of the coaches while I was down there. I spoke to Coach Key and the new offensive coordinator (Brian Daboll). They were just telling me how I am a big guy. They were glad to have a me down there."

A few players caught his attention during Wednesday's practice session.

"Practice was pretty aggressive," he said. "I watched the wide receivers and the running backs. Najee Harris stood out to me. He looked good. He ran low to the ground and was explosive. Calvin Ridley also looking good. That's pretty usual though."

Alabama is among Joiner's list of favorites after adding the in-state SEC offer.

"They are always a high-powered offense," Joiner said. "Their running backs are always good. They are always getting drafted. It's just a great team overall."

Another SEC school is at the top of Joiner's list.

"LSU is my favorite," he said. "I like how they are an under-center offense. They run down hill. They are just like Bama. They are always good. They develop good running backs.

"I also really like Georgia. I believe they are going to offer soon. That offer will put them right up there. It's LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss and Bama for me right now."

Joiner will attend the Auburn A-Day game on Saturday.
