Jaren Handy, four-star defensive end from Perry Central High School in New Augusta, Mississippi, was one of several elite prospects in Tuscaloosa on Saturday for the Tide's spring scrimmage. The monster lineman enjoyed the experience.

"I really loved it," Handy said. "A few things that stood out about the visit were meeting with Raekwon Davis, sitting down and talking to Coach Saban, meeting the players and getting a tour of the school. I also really liked the scrimmage. They play hard."

Handy was happy for the opportunity to meet Mississippi native Raekwon Davis during his time in T-Town.

"Raekwon didn't really talk to me about sports," he said. "He didn't try to recruit me. He is a beast of a player. I want to be better than him. He is like my role model."

He also spoke with Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban.

"This was my first time talking to him," Handy said. "He said he liked what he saw on my film and that they are losing a lot of defensive linemen next year. He said that I can come in and make a big impact if I put in the work.

"I also spent time with Coach Kool (Craig Kuligowski) and Coach Golding. They said I can play early. I really like them."

Handy hopes to come to a decision in December. He doesn't have any favorites at this time. He does plan to return to Tuscaloosa.

"What stands out to me about Alabama is the tradition, winning, great development and it's close to home," Handy said.
