TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama will hold its second scrimmage of the spring Saturday. It will be the Crimson Tide’s 12th spring practice and will offer coaches a chance to see which players were capable of making the necessary adjustments from last week’s scrimmage.
Saturday also marks Alabama’s last game-like setting before it closes up spring camp with its annual A-Day game on April 21. Here are five questions to consider before Alabama hits the field.
How much will Tua throw?
Going by what media members are allowed to see before practice, not much has changed with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The rising sophomore has continued to throw off the side during individual drills but has joined the rest of the quarterbacks during handoff drills and throws to receivers.
Alabama continues to take things slow with Tagovailoa as he recovers from a broken bone in his throwing hand he suffered during the Crimson Tide’s first practice on March 20. Alabama head coach Nick Saban said Tagovailoa played “very limitedly” during last week’s scrimmage as he was held to roughly 15-20 reps. It will be interesting to see if he gets more of an opportunity this week in order to prepare him for A-Day.
