Diante Wood is a 6-foot-5, 185-pound shooting guard from Sacred Heart Catholic in Anniston, Alabama. He is considered a top-five player in the state of Alabama for the 2018 class. Playing at a small school in Alabama, he is physically imposing at his size. He has played primarily mid-range and post for his team but has also stepped out and shown his range as well. He is a very versatile player but is projected as a shooting guard at the next level.

His recruitment came down to Alabama and USF but also included Auburn previously. Two to three months ago we saw Auburn was the leader, but a lot has also happened between now and then. Two of his previous three visits have been to Alabama, with the other being to USF so you had a feeling it was between those schools. We previously predicted USF for Wood assuming he was not a take at the moment, but this could mean Alabama Basketball Coach Avery Johnson feels confident in the numbers game working out. Regardless, this is a great addition to Alabama.
Where does he fit into Alabama's program
So far in the 2018 class, Alabama has a commitment from a PF/C ( Javian Fleming), a PG/SG (Jared Butler), and Wood's commitment adds an SG/SF. Alabama Basketball Coach Avery Johnson is adding depth to all positions so he will be able to rotate the way he wants with versatile players.
