Alabama places 15 on preseason All-SEC team

Alabama placed a conference-best 15 members on the Preseason Coaches All-SEC Team, the league announced Wednesday.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts along with wide receiver Calvin Ridley and offensive linemen Jonah Williams and Ross Pierschbacher were named to the first-team offense, while defensive linemen Da’Shawn Hand and Da’Ron Payne and defensive backs Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Harrison were named to the first-team defense. JK Scott was named as the first-team punter.

Running back Bo Scarbrough and linebacker Rashaan Evans were named to the second team. Center Bradley Bozeman was named to the third team along with all-purpose player Trevon Diggs, linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton and defensive back Anthony Averett.

This marks the 15th consecutive year of the SEC Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team. All 14 SEC schools were represented on the All-SEC team, including eight schools with five or more selections. Nine SEC schools had at least one First-Team All-SEC selection, including a conference-best nine from Alabama.

Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
