TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama is currently dealing with a limited roster as it opened up spring camp on Monday. Following the Crimson Tide’s first spring practice, head coach Kalen DeBoer revealed a list of eight players who will be out for camp due to injuries, as well as three more who will be limited to individual workouts.
Alabama didn’t suffer any recent injuries, and none of the setbacks are thought to keep players out for the fall.
Four of the injured players were starters on last year’s team, including cornerback Domani Jackson (out), linebacker Deontae Lawson (out), safety Keon Sabb (out) and left tackle Kadyn Proctor (limited).
Alabama’s injury list also includes three players who are projected to fight for starting openings, including linebacker Justin Jefferson (limited), defensive tackle James Smith (limited), tight end Danny Lewis Jr. (out) and freshmen punter Alex Asparuhov (out).
While the injuries present a challenge for DeBoer and his staff to navigate this spring, they will also open the door for younger and inexperienced players to pick up first-team reps over the next month.
“With the list, there’s a lot of guys that are returners and upperclassmen,” DeBoer said. “There’s a chance to build some depth with our guys and get our younger guys a lot of reps.”
Here’s a list of the players DeBoer mentioned in his injury report.
