TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama head coach Nick Saban updated the statuses of two defensive backs who picked up injuries in recent games. Tony Brown suffered a sprained knee during Saturday’s game against Texas A&M, while Trevon Diggs suffered a foot injury against Ole Miss.

Monday, the head coach said he expects both players to be “fine” this week.

“Trevon Diggs will come back and try to practice some today,” Saban said. “Tony Brown will be day-to-day over the course of the week, and we won’t be able to make a decision on him until sometime later in the week.”

Brown picked up his injury in the third quarter when he was filling in for Levi Wallace at left cornerback. Wallace started the game at cornerback and did not appear to suffer an injury on the day. Brown finished the game with one tackle.

Diggs was not available for Saturday’s game against Texas A&M, forcing Brown to play both the Star and cornerback positions against the Aggies. Against Ole Miss, Diggs came back from the locker room on crutches in the second half. The sophomore cornerback was wearing a boot on his right foot. Saturday, he was replaced in punt return duty by freshman receiver Henry Ruggs III.

Starting wide receiver Calvin Ridley also picked up a knock against Texas A&M and was slow to get up after a play in the third quarter. The junior later returned to the game and led Alabama with five receptions for 68 yards. Following the game, Saban said Ridley picked up a thigh bruise and said, “He’ll probably be alright.” The receiver was not mentioned in the injury report given by Saban on Monday.

No. 1 Alabama (6-0, 3-0 in the SEC) will host Arkansas (2-3, 0-2) on Saturday at 6:15 p.m. CT for its homecoming game. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
