TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Damien Harris’ best advice: just run away.

The Alabama running back has tried to do just that while going up against teammate Raekwon Davis during practice the past two seasons. To be fair, Harris’ plan sounds pretty sensible. There isn’t much that stops the 6-foot-7, 308-pound defensive end.

“Try to avoid him if you can,” Harris said when asked the best way to attack Davis on the field. “Hopefully somebody will block him.”

Davis is big even by Alabama’s standards. The mammoth Mississippi native is the tallest defender on the Crimson Tide’s roster and is tied with freshmen defensive tackles Phidarian Mathis and Stephon Wynn as the heaviest.

However, that size hasn’t got in the way of Davis’ ability to make plays on the field. Last season, he led Alabama with 8.5 sacks while finishing second with 10 tackles for a loss and third with 69 tackles.

“You don’t usually see 6-7, 6-8 D-linemen, but he does it and he does it well,” Harris said. “So, thankfully he’s on our team.”
