"We felt the unceasing prayer, and words can’t express how overwhelming and uplifting that has been for us. We have total faith in God’s plan for Tua, and we know his plan is never wrong. God’s grace, mercy, love and faithfulness in our lives has never been more evident, despite this setback. The care and support Tua and our family has received is nothing short of amazing, and we can’t express our appreciation enough for Dr. Cain, Jeff Allen, Coach Saban, Tua’s teammates, the Alabama Athletics department, our pastors and all of the doctors and nurses that have done such an outstanding job of taking care of Tua. God Bless and Roll Tide!”

Tua Tagovailoa had successful surgery on his hip Monday, according to a release from the University of Alabama. The starting quarterback flew to Houston on Sunday for the procedure. UPDATE — Sunday, Nov. 17, 5:15 p.m.: Tua being flown to Houston for surgery
After dislocating his right hip Saturday, Tua Tagovailoa is being flown to Houston where he will undergo surgery Monday. Alabama released a statement Sunday night, explaining the steps that have been taken since the starting quarterback sustained his injury during the second quarter of the Crimson Tide's game against Mississippi State.
“For the past 24 hours our medical team has consulted with multiple orthopedic experts across the country, who specialize in hip injuries and surgeries," team orthopedist Dr. Lyle Cain said in the statement. "Based on that research, Tua is being flown to Houston tonight to be evaluated and is scheduled to have hip surgery Monday. As previously stated, we anticipate a full recovery. The main focus has been, and will remain, on Tua, his family, and making sure we are providing them the best medical care possible.”

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Alabama will be without its starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. The university confirmed reports that Tua Tagovailoa suffered a dislocated hip during Saturday's game against Mississippi State and has ruled him out for the remainder of the year.
“Tua Tagovailoa sustained a right hip dislocation that was immediately reduced at the stadium," said Alabama team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lyle Cain in a statement released by the university. "He is undergoing further testing to determine the best course of treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery but will miss the remainder of the season.”
Tagovailoa sustained the injury in the second quarter when he rolled to his left for a third-down pass. Upon getting rid of the ball, he was hit by two Mississippi State defenders, sending him plummeting to the turf. Tagovailoa remained on the ground for a lengthy period of time before eventually being carted off the field. He was later helicoptered to Birmingham, Ala., for X-rays.
Tagovailoa completed his first nine passes against Mississippi State and led Alabama to touchdowns on its first five possessions. He was 14 of 18 for 256 yards and two touchdowns before the injury. At the time of Taogvailoa's injury late in the second half, Alabama led Mississippi State 35-7.
“We can second guess ourselves all we want,” Saban said. “We told Mac (Jones) to warm up and we were going to go 2-minute before the half. Tua wanted to play in the game and so I don’t really make a lot of decisions based on worrying if a guy is going to get hurt.”
Tagovailoa was replaced by Mac Jones, who completed 7 of 11 passes for 94 yards. The redshirt sophomore led the Crimson Tide to just three points after coming in to start the second half.
“I thought Mac played well,” Saban said. “I talked to Mac last night, and I talked to Tua last night. They new exactly how we would play this game today relative to how Tua was before the game. Mac was good with it. I thought Mac did a good job in the game. I thought he had the right mindset. He practiced well all week, and he was well prepared for the game. And we had confidence in him to go in and play today.”
