There have been players that say they're going to shock the world but none of them have done it like Travis Hunter just did. The No. 1 prospect in the Rivals250 and longtime Florida State commit decided to sign with Jackson State and head coach Deion Sanders.

A rare prospect that could be a five-star at multiple positions, Hunter plans on playing all over the field at the next level. He is an incredible receiver with the route-running skills of a much more mature player and elite ball skills. At 6-foot-1, Hunter has the size and speed to out-maneuver any defensive back he comes across.
Hunter was already a special defensive back but he should flourish under Sanders' tutelage. He is a turnover machine that can blanket one side of the field and lock down the opposing team's top receiving threat. Hunter is a physical tackler that can blitz off the edge as well.
While Hunter is a rare prospect, his commitment to Jackson State puts him in rare air in other categories as well. Hunter is at least the fourth No. 1 overall prospect to flip his commitment, with Bryce Brown, Robert Nkemdiche, and Quinn Ewers being the other three. Hunter is also the first five-star prospect to sign with an HBCU in the modern recruiting era.
As Hunter pointed out in his commitment post, HBCUs produced all-time greats like Jerry Rice and Walter Payton. He has the talent to play football for a long time and it's unlikely that his National Signing Day surprise will ever be topped.
