TUSCALOOSA, Ala — Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave updates on two injured players Wednesday night, stating that defensive lineman Raekwon Davis (leg) is still “day-to-day,” while a decision on running back Josh Jacobs (hamstring) will be made Thursday.
Davis was shot in the right leg outside of a Tuscaloosa bar early Sunday morning and has not been seen at any of the media viewing periods during practice this week. The 6-foot-7, 306-pound defensive lineman was spotted wearing a black jersey while entering Hank Crisp Indoor Facility before practice Wednesday.

“Raekwon Davis did do a little bit of stuff in practice today,” Saban said during his Wednesday news conference. “He’s still day-to-day, and it’s a medical decision as to when he can come back and be able to play."
If Davis is unable to go, Alabama will most likely start senior Joshua Frazier at defensive end. Frazier, 6-foot-4, 315 pounds, is listed as a co-starter with Davis on the depth chart provided by the team Monday. He saw action in 14 games last season, recording eight tackles and a sack.
“I think Josh Frazier has had a good fall. He’s had a good summer.” Saban said. “He’s got his weight down, and his play has certainly improved in consistency. He’s got a role in the two-deep. In some situations, he’ll be a starter. The guy’s done a really good job and it will be interesting to see how he responds when he goes out there and gets the opportunity to play against a good team."

Jacobs has been limited in all three practices this week while dealing with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss both of Alabama’s scrimmages earlier this preseason. The 5-foot-10, 212-pound sophomore was participating in individual drills with his teammates but left the field when Alabama moved to team drills.
“He has not practiced yet, he’s still in rehab,” Saban said. “He’s still working to try and get the strength back in his hamstring. If he can’t practice tomorrow, he probably won’t be playing in the game.”
Jacobs is listed as a backup behind starters Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough on the depth chart. If he misses Saturday’s game, it could open up more playing time for freshmen Najee Harris and Brian Robinson.
