Nick Saban provides injury report on three Alabama Crimson Tide players

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — After unleashing a particularly daunting injury update over the weekend, Nick Saban provided a more positive report Thursday evening as he revealed the statuses of three players who have been either limited or absent during media viewing periods of practice this week.

“From an injury standpoint, we don’t really have any new injuries. We’ve got guys that are a little nicked up, whatever," Saban said. "LaBryan Ray has come back and started practicing on a limited basis. We’ll see how he progresses. Stephon Wynn has a high ankle sprain and will probably be out for another week. We expect D.J. Dale to start practicing on a limited basis tomorrow. Those are some of the guys that have been out."

Wynn, who appeared in three games last season, had been taking reps at defensive tackle on Alabama’s second-team unit. The 6-foot-4, 311-pound redshirt freshman posted a photo of himself after surgery over the weekend and was seen Thursday wearing a boot on his right foot.

Ray returned to practice on Monday after missing the first few weeks of camp with an ankle injury. The junior has been taking part in the NCAA’s acclimatization period and can practice in full pads for the first time Friday. Thursday, he worked in limited reps while wearing shorts and shells.

Dale suffered a knee sprain last week and has been absent the past seven viewing periods during practice. The 6-foot-3, 308-pound freshman has been working at nose guard with the first-team defense during camp.

Saturday, Saban confirmed that freshman running back Trey Sanders will be out indefinitely with a foot injury. The bad news spilled over into Monday as the head coach announced redshirt senior Joshua McMillon will also be out indefinitely after suffering a knee injury during the team’s first scrimmage over the weekend.

Alabama will hold its 13th practice of fall camp Friday morning before taking part in its second scrimmage on Saturday inside of Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide will begin its season on Aug. 31 against Duke inside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
