Landon Collins plans to lobby the Alabama coaching staff for more special teams play for Saturday's game against the Florida Gators.
He isn't looking to pad his stats, rather plant his pads into his brother's shoulders.
Collins' half-brother, Gerald Willis, is a freshman defensive lineman for Florida, and Willis has logged a few snaps on special teams. The brothers have playfully gone back and forth with a little smack talk this week.
"It was just nothing but talkin' noise to each other, that's about it," Collins said. "(I'm) trying to get on kickoff return to see if I can block him one time."
Collins and Willis have never played against the other.
"...we were always on defense at the same time. Never got the chance. We've never hit each other."
And if Collins finds himself face to face with his younger brother during Saturday's game?
"We're going head first. Just going at it with him, that's all. (I"m going to) hit him hard. There's no let up.
Their mom April Justin, the one who wanted both to attend LSU, will be in attendance at Bryant-Denny Stadium come Saturday.
"She's not rooting for nobody," Collins said. "She says she's got a split household. She's just gonna be in the middle of the field and cheer for me and Gerald at the same time."
Willis has played in one game and registered three tackles, including 0.5 tackle for loss. Collins leads Alabama with 27 tackles.
