Amari Kight, four-star offensive tackle from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, announced his commitment on Sunday evening to the University of Alabama. Thompson head coach Mark Freeman believes Alabama is getting a special talent.

"The thing Amari always falls back on is his work ethic," Coach Freeman said. "I have to run him off at night especially when he was younger. He always out-worked himself. He would never go home.

"He is so quiet. He doesn't say 100 words in a day. He just works. He is equipped to have a 10-year NFL career. He has a chance to have a great career. He comes from a great family. He holds his weight really well. He is only 305-310-pounds.

"His body type is not bad at all. He doesn't have fat ankles. He is a very good athlete. He is very aggressive. He is learning to be smart. He started for us the last two years. I look for him to have a big year this upcoming season."

Kight does all the right things off-the-field according to Coach Freeman. He is also on schedule to graduate in December with intentions to enroll at Alabama in January.

"He just leads by example," his coach said. "He always wants to be at the front of the pack whenever anything is going on. He goes full speed in every drill. He is the epitome of what you want your younger guys to do.

"We are going to miss him in a lot of areas on-and-off the field when he graduates. The way he goes about his business is what we want for all of our kids. He is a very good leader."

Alabama did a great job of recruiting the in-state lineman. He received an offer from Alabama last summer at the OL/DL camp in June.

"Coach Key (Alabama offensive line coach) has done a great job of recruiting him," Freeman said. "All the schools really did a great job. We were really blessed and impressed with the way people recruited him.

"I am sure his commitment to Alabama won't stop other schools from recruiting him. Coach Key has been there for a long time in regards to recruiting him. Coach Saban also spent a lot of time with him. I think that really stood out to him. Coach Saban always made an effort to spend time with him."
