Ray Thornton, 2019 safety from Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama, was one of the best players on the field Sunday at the Crimson Tide's camp. He was excited to work with the coaching staff.

"It was exciting just knowing I am practicing with Alabama," Thornton said. "We were going at the same place the (Alabama) players practice. It was exciting. Just getting coached by Coach Ansley was good.

"I felt like I did good out there. I could have done better, but I did what I had to do. I have talked to Coach Ansley before. He has come by our school.

"Overall, I felt like the camp went really good. I think what stood out the most was how they treated us like we were players already on the team. I knew what college was going to be like just by being out there."

So what does he think about the University of Alabama?

"I really like how fast they coach," he said. "It was really intense. We couldn't play around. It just really showed how college was. I know what to expect."

Thornton played running back at Columbus High School in Georgia before transferring to Central High School. He wants colleges to know he can also play safety. He has a scholarship offer from Mississippi State. He is also hearing from Auburn, Florida and Georgia.
