Alabama on the verge of adding 'gritty,' 'competitive' graduate transfer QB

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama is set to add another quarterback to the mix for next season as graduate transfer Gardner Minshew has committed to the Crimson Tide and will join the team this summer, according to multiple reports.

The 6-foot-2, 216-pound quarterback played in 10 games for Eastern Carolina last season, passing for 2,140 yards and 16 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He threw for more than 350 yards in three of his final four games, recording 1,486 yards and 10 touchdowns to go with five interceptions over that span. Minshew comes to Alabama with one more year of eligibility but also has a redshirt option available.

Minshew, a native of Brandon, Miss., decided to transfer from ECU in January in order to move closer to his home due to a family situation. He has been in contact with Alabama since his decision to transfer and visited Tuscaloosa last weekend.
