When Alabama needs to make a big play through the air, Jermaine Burton tends to be the best option.

The senior receiver leads the Crimson Tide with 508 yards and five touchdowns on 23 receptions and hasn’t recorded a drop all year. He ranks seventh in the nation, averaging 22.09 yards per catch and has reeled in seven receptions on throws that traveled 20 or more yards past the line of scrimmage.

More importantly, Burton has come up big when it has mattered most. Eight of his receptions this season have come on third downs. Seven of those have moved the chains, while three have been for touchdowns.

Burton continued to deliver in the clutch over the weekend pulling in a team-high four receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown during Alabama’s 34-20 victory over Tennessee. Alabama targeted the star receiver four times on third down and converted each time. Burton caught three of those for 54 yards and a touchdown and drew a defensive holding penalty on the other.

Here’s a look back at the receiver’s third-down dominance against the Volunteers.
