Fit for a King

Jamar King, three-star defensive tackle from Mendocino C.C., in Ukiah, Calif., announced his intentions to sign with the University of Alabama on Wednesday morning. King chose Alabama instead of UCF and Ohio State where he also took official visits.

"I made my decision today," said King. "I've have been talking with Alabama the whole way through. We kept in contact. I told them yesterday I was going to sign with them. They were excited about it. feel great about my decision I made.

"I picked Alabama for the opportunity to go in and be a part of their program. Just to be a part of something great. I am not trying to disrespect any program. I felt like Alabama would be the perfect fit for me.

"When I went on my visit I had a good time. I have a lot of family down there. I really enjoyed myself. I pictured myself playing for Alabama right then and there.".

King discussed his relationship with the coaching staff.

"Bo (Davis) is a good coach," he said. "When I get there this summer I will get to know him more over the next two years. I have to put my trust in him that he will be able to provide me with all the tools and to achieve what I want to at Alabama.

"Coach Saban is a real cool guy. He told me he has been looking for a guy like me all year. I know I will build a stronger relationship wth him once I get there."

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman is excited about his future in Tuscaloosa.

"I am glad it's behind me." King said. "I've been stressful. It's tough to pick where you want to be with all the different schools calling you. I can focus on school and get myself prepared for the next level."
