Early enrollee preview: Can Slade Bolden be the next Hunter Renfrow?
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — So far the comparisons have been predictable. Ever since he signed with Alabama, early enrollee Slade Bolden has been likened to players such as Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Wes Welker — all slot receivers who share his build. Those pairings were due in large part to the person who helped bring Bolden to Alabama, former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who spent 11 seasons with the New England Patriots where all three played.
Here’s a comparison that might hit Alabama fans closer to home.
“He could sort of be like Hunter Renfrow,” said Mike Farrell, Rivals national recruiting director. “He could be that type of player for Alabama. He’s that type of precise route runner who has really sort of underrated athleticism that can do a lot of things for them in that offense.”
