Jalyn Armour-Davis, four-star cornerback from St. Paul's in Mobile, Alabama, announced his commitment to the University of Alabama on Friday. St. Paul's head coach Steve Mask discussed the Crimson Tide's latest commitment.

"His size and speed at the position is paramount," Mask said. "Everyone is looking for 6-foot-1 corners. He is 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. He is the quintessential corner. He ran a 10.7 100m laser time.

"He will have to learn to be a little more physical. You look at the NFL, and they are looking for corners who can cover and come up to make the tackle. He can cover people. He is also a great receiver. He is going to score some touchdowns. He is an elite athlete."

Armour-Davis released a top six shortly after National Signing Day. The list did not include Alabama. Coach Mask says Alabama was always in the mix.

"They were never out of it," he said. "I think, at first, schools like USC and some others sounds good, but when you settle down and start thinking about it you get a better idea. Alabama was always in it."

Coach Mask credits Alabama's defensive coordinator with his recruiting efforts in landing his elite athlete.

"Jeremy Pruitt isn't a big pressure guy," Mask said. "He isn't pressuring guys to commit. He talks about Alabama and what Alabama can do for him. Jeremy is an Alabama guy. He grew up in Alabama. He understands how it works. He is low-key without the high pressure to commit. He just states the facts."

The Crimson Tide adds a key player in the class from the Port City.

"He is very mature," Mask said. "He is not a loner, but he doesn't seek a lot of things. He keeps to himself. He has admiration for his teammates. He is family-oriented. He is very close to his mom and sister. He has fun, but at the same time is serious. He is very mature for a 17-year old."
