Byers focused on Alabama

Akial Byers, four-star defensive tackle from Fayetteville High School in Arkansas, committed to the University of Alabama during the summer. He remains committed even though other schools are still in pursuit.

"I am still pretty solid with Alabama," said Byers. "OU is trying to get to come visit. I have also been hearing a few things from Arkansas. They want me to visit. There were some Arkansas fans disappointed with my decision. They wish I would have gone there.

"I am taking my official visit to Alabama on January 20. I haven't thought about any other visits yet. I am still solid with my commitment to the Tide."

Byers knows the reason for choosing Alabama and appreciates the guidance on academics.

"Roll Tide," he said when asked why he chose Alabama. "You really can't pass up that sort of opportunity. Alabama is a really nice place. They are staying on top of me with all of my academics. I really like it there. It seems like a good place for me."

Byers has been impressed with Jonathan Allen's performance this fall.

"Alabama had a great season," he said. "The offense and defense were great. I really looked up to Jonathan Allen. He was really the only person I watched on defense. The staff compares me to him. I want to be like him. Bama recruited me to play defensive tackle. I can play inside or outside."

Byers finally gave a prediction on the Tide's playoff prediction.

"It's going to be a good game," he said. "Bama will win though. I have faith in them winning it all."
