Gerry Bohanan, 2018 athlete from Earle High School in Arkansas, received his first SEC offer on Monday.

"I was very excited," Bohanon said of Alabama's offer. "I have been there three times. I was hoping I would get an offer from them. I wasn't expecting it anytime soon though.

"Coach Billy Napier called my head coach and told him about the offer. They offered me as an athlete. I want to play quarterback, but if it's best for me to change position I will do whatever is best for me and the team."

The 6-foot-3, 212-pound athlete plays quarterback, safety and outside linebacker. Arkansas State and Memphis have also offered scholarships. He is also hearing from Arkansas, Iowa State, Notre Dame and Purdue.

"I like how their football program is and how serious they are about education," Bohanon said of the Crimson Tide. "Education is important to me. I really like the atmosphere there. The last time I was there was for the Iron Bowl."

Bohanan discussed his first Iron Bowl experience in Tuscaloosa.

"Oh my gosh, it was crazy," he said. "The game was so intense especially with how the fans are with each other. It was exciting. I will definitely go back to Alabama sometime this spring."
