TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama will promote Ellis Ponder to director of football operations, according to a release from the university Thursday afternoon.

Ponder, a native of Fairhope, Ala., previously served as the associate director of football operations the past two seasons. He will now take over the role left behind by Justin Dickens, who left the program in February.

Now serving as the Crimson Tide’s director of operations, Ponder will be tasked with overseeing the operational and organizational aspects of the football program.

“The University of Alabama has always been very special to me and I am looking forward to my expanded role,” Ponder said. “Coach Saban is the best in the nation at running a football program and I truly appreciate the opportunity and his trust in me to serve as the director of football operations.”

Prior to arriving at Alabama, Ponder spent four years working for the Bruno Event Team in Birmingham, Ala. There he helped manage a wide array of sporting events.

Ponder is an Alabama graduate and holds an undergraduate degree in business administration and a master’s degree in marketing.
