Alabama forward Grant Nelson appeared on the Crimson Tide's availability report ahead of its monster clash against No. 5 Florida on Wednesday. Nelson was listed as questionable on the initial availability report released Tuesday night.
Tide coach Nate Oats did not give an update on Nelson's status when speaking to reporters Tuesday, but did say "all four of our seniors should be good to go." Alabama will honor Nelson, along with Mark Sears, Chris Youngblood and Clifford Omoruyi, as well as walk-on forward Max Scharnowski after Wednesday's game as part of the Tide's senior day.
Nelson has appeared in all 29 games, with 27 starts for Alabama this season. He is averaging 11.8 points and a team-high eight rebounds per game.
Oats did give an update on Alabama freshman forward Derrion Reid on Tuesday. The forward was ruled out of the Florida game, and Oats said he is still week-to-week, but Reid has started doing basketball workouts again. The freshman is averaging 7.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. He last appeared in Alabama's loss to Auburn on February 15.
SEC policy requires teams to reveal the status of players who may not play for any reason, including, but not limited to, injury, illness, suspension, ineligibility, or personal matter. Any student-athlete who regularly participates in games (even on a limited basis) is subject to mandatory disclosure.
Alabama will face Florida at 6 p.m. CT Wednesday inside Coleman Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
