TUSCALOOSA — Alabama defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand was arrested and charged with a DUI on Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa. The senior's bond of $1,000 was posted and he was released from custody.

“This type of behavior is not acceptable and we are disappointed in Da’Shawn’s actions," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said in a statement released by the university. "We are still gathering information and will evaluate what we need to do in terms of appropriate discipline as we move forward, so better choices and decisions can be made in the future.”

Hand is projected to be a starter for Alabama this season. The former No. 1 recruit in the 2014 recruiting class, he made 21 tackles, 3.5 for a loss and two sacks last season.

Alabama will begin fall practice on Thursday.
