Alabama Crimson Tide practice observations
Here are my observations and takeaways from the Alabama Crimson Tide's 12th practice of the season as well as from Nick Saban’s press conference this evening.
Observations from practice No. 12
— Earlier today I ranked and evaluated all of Alabama’s true freshmen and one player I received a lot of feedback on was Justin Eboigbe. Today I observed Eboigbe working right next to Raekwon Davis and Phidarian Mathis and I have to say he looked very impressive today. The next group composed of Antonio Alfano, Tevita Musika, and Christian Barmore had to repeat the drill again and defensive line coach Brian Baker was on their trio.
Observations from Saban’s Presser
— To open Saban spoke about improvement and talked about getting better week over week. “The focus this week has been on improving,” Saban said. “What we talked to the players about on Sunday when we watched the film was it’s really, really important what kind of progress you make from the last scrimmage to the next scrimmage.” It’s clear that Saban is still in full fall camp mode and not focused on tomorrow or even the Duke game, right now he’s focused on these guys getting better so that the depth of the team as a whole becomes better.
ICYMI: Ranking the true freshmen
— On leadership. Maybe this team has found their leaders or maybe they haven’t, but Saban commented that it’s important for leaders to lead when it’s tough. “I think it’s important for our leadership on our team because it’s difficult right now, it’s hot outside, it’s camp, people are trying to grind through it and that leaders have to lead in all conditions. They have to affect people in a positive way and that’s something that we want to challenge our leadership on our team with.”
