Earlier this week, the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas updated its Heisman Trophy odds. While Alabama’s players haven’t practiced since our last Heisman update*, some movement did occur.

*- The last odds update was compiled from the FanDuel Sportsbook.

QB Mac Jones

Odds: 25-1 (No shift)

Jones remains the Alabama player with the easiest path to the Heisman Trophy and the Superbook recognizes that. Jones is currently tied in sixth place with six other guys including Florida quarterback Kyle Trask and Clemson running back Travis Etienne.

All five guys ahead of him are quarterback (more on that later).

RB Najee Harris

Odds: 40-1 (Was 60-1)

At this point, Harris is Alabama’s only other viable candidate to bring home the Heisman Trophy.

Fifteen players have better odds than Harris. Etienne and Oklahoma State back Chuba Hubbard are the only non-quarterbacks with a higher spot on the list.

Former Alabama running backs Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry are the only non-quarterbacks to win the award since 2005. If Harris’ workload remains high despite a crowded backfield he could become the Crimson Tide’s best chance to bring home the school’s third Heisman Trophy.

WR Jaylen Waddle

Odds: 100-1 (Was 80-1)

Waddle’s chances took a hit this time around, but honestly this is probably where he should be at this point. If you’re looking to take a flier on Waddle then you’re hoping he continues to be a big factor in the return game. He scored two touchdowns last season and averaged 24.35 and 35 yards per punt and kick return, respectively.

The Favorites

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields and Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence currently have the best odds at 4-1.

Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler ranks third with 12-1 odds. Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger and Georgia quarterback Jamie Newman round out the top five with 14-1 and 16-1 odds, respectively.

Notes:

-Fields finished third overall last year with 747 points. To put that in perspective, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow won with 2,608.

-Lawrence finished in seventh last time around with 88 points.

-No Oklahoma quarterback has placed lower than second during the last three years.
