Alabama basketball will be without Derrion Reid for a fourth straight game, as the freshman forward was ruled out for the No. 6 Crimson Tide’s matchup at No. 5 Tennessee on Saturday. Starting point guard Mark Sears was also included with a “probable” designation on Alabama’s SEC-mandated availability report released Friday night.

Reid has been dealing with a hamstring injury since the beginning of the year. He missed four games last month before returning to face Mississippi State and Georgia. From there, he re-aggravated the injury, causing him to miss two more games before returning for the game against Auburn.

Reid played in just five minutes against Auburn, before sitting out games against Missouri, Kentucky and Mississippi State. Earlier this week, Nate Oats said Reid’s leg was evaluated by Dr. Lyle Cain in Birmingham. The five-star forward is averaging 7.1 points and 3.2 rebounds over 16.3 minutes per game in his 18 appearances this season.

“He’s improving, progressing, getting better,” Oats said of Reid. “He’ll be evaluated week-to-week but not going to go tomorrow. He’s out, but they thought he looked good, so he’s coming along.”

Sears was included in the availability report before the game against Kentucky last week. He scored 30 points over 35 minutes against the Wildcats before recording 21 points and 10 assists in Alabama's win over Mississippi State this week.

Alabama (23-5, 12-3) will tip off against Tennessee (23-5, 10-5) at 3 p.m. CT inside Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center. The game will be televised on ESPN.
