Jarrett Bell, four-star offensive guard from Norco High School in California, announced his commitment to the University of Alabama on Monday. He received an offer from Alabama in July.

"I wanted to get my decision out of the way before my senior season," Bell told BamaInsider.com. "I didn't want to think about anything else. I didn't want to have any distractions. I wanted to make sure I am focused on the team, and the road to state. I am also graduating early, so I will be at Alabama in January.

"I was most interested in schools where I went to camp and earned an offer. They were 100-percent on me because they saw me work-out and put me through drills. I narrowed it down to academics, support, and football was the final thing. A big thing for me is to get a good degree, and what life is like after college."

Alabama certainly met all of Bell's requirements when choosing a school.

"I really like the coaching and how they evaluate," he said. "They are the top-of-the-line. I knew if I passed their tests I would be a good fit. They are the top-of-the-top. They know how to evaluate.

"Football speaks for itself. Coach Saban doesn't have to sell the football program. It's the best program in the country. Coach Saban sold me on academics. He said they are not just there to create great football players, but to create great young men. They want to help you have a successful life.

"You have to love the strength coach (Scott Cochran)! I want to be there right now working out with him. My trainer is just like him. We work-out like crazy. I think it's the perfect fit for a weight coach and player."

It has been an interesting road for Bell. His offer list is small.

"My family is still in shock is all I have to say," Bell said. "They are so proud of me. Three months ago I received my first offer from a small D-1 school. I worked my way to the top school in the nation.

"I didn't go to any camps or combines. I've just been training and getting ready for summer camps. I wanted to make sure I was ready when I went to camps."

Bell earned an offer from Alabama as an offensive lineman. A fairly new position for him since he has spent his high school career on the defensive line. He looks forward to working with Alabama offensive line coach, Brent Key.

"I just love the way he attacks," he said. "He is all about business and work ethic. You give 110-percent he will turn you into a great player. He has the ability to do that and resources to do that. It's a perfect fit for me."
