Wright to his mom's favorite

Daniel Wright, four-star safety from Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, flipped his commitment from Florida State to Alabama earlier this month.

"It's a great honor for me," Wright said of going to Alabama. "I mean to be under Coach Saban-he's a great coach. He has built a great foundation under the school and team. I know he will make a big impact on me and where I want to be.

"Just being around the players and knowing some of the players who are going up there with me this year it's going to be great. It's going to be great to be in that atmosphere and learn from the best."

Wright knew when he spoke with Nick Saban and visited Tuscaloosa he wanted to play for the Crimson Tide.

"The first time I realized I wanted to go to Bama was when I kept getting the call from the head man (Nick Saban)," he said. "When I took my official visit it made it known to me and my family this is where I wanted to be.

"I think many people saw posts I would make and from an outsiders perspective they thought I was going to Alabama. I guess I gave it away. Just being there I really got the feel of knowing I wanted to be there for the next three-four years. I know I can get a better education there."

What stood out the most of the defending national champions?

"What stood out to me most of all was the atmosphere and how I felt around the surroundings," Wright said. "I knew the players I was with I could really connect with. I loved being around the fans. I felt really comfortable there, and felt like it was the place where I can focus and do my job."

His mother is obviously happy with the decision to play college football in Tuscaloosa.

"My mom has been a Bama fan all of my life," Wright said. "She is a big Bama fan. It was sort of a deal when my brother went to Florida, but we dealt with it. She didn't influence me to go there. She told me to weigh every option. My family is great with my decision."

Alabama assistant head coach Mario Cristobal was a very instrumental part in recruiting Wright to Alabama.

"Coach Cristobal has been one of the best coaches I've talked to since my freshman year," he said. "He always showed a lot of interest in me. He showed me how I can make an impact at Alabama. That's what I liked the most. He showed how I can build my craft. We have one of the best relationships there is out there."

Nick Saban coaching an athlete also has a major impact.

"It's one of the best opportunities there is for me to have Coach Saban coach me," Wright said. "It will be great to be coached by the best who has coached the best and is still doing the best. I am very excited. I am ready to start my craft, and get a better education and have a better future."

Wright is ready to watch the Tide roll this week in Atlanta.

"It's going to be a stacked game," he said. "We are coming to help build and make history at Alabama. I know we are going to win this week. We are going to win it all."
