WOMENS BASKETBALL: Tide goes to Georgia

TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama women's basketball faces the 13th-ranked Georgia Lady Bulldogs at 6 tonight at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga.
The teams first met Jan. 10, a game Georgia won 95-83 in Tuscaloosa. Tonight's game marks the 45th meeting between the Crimson Tide (12-8, 2-5 Southeastern Conference) and Lady Bulldogs (17-3, 5-2) in the series that Georgia leads 35-9. The Lady Bulldogs have won the last 22 meetings. The Crimson Tide's last win in the series came on Feb. 8, 1998, by a 90-77 decision.

Alabama is coming off a 67-58 loss to Vanderbilt in a game in which the Crimson Tide forced 27 turnovers, 14 on steals.
Sophomore Daisha Simmons leads Alabama in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per game, while junior Shafontaye Myers adds another 12.3 points per game. Sophomore Kaneisha Horn averages a team-best 5.4 rebounds per game, while Simmons averages a team-high 4.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game.
The Lady Bulldogs lead the SEC in steals, with 12.5 per game, and rank second in scoring defense, only allowing 52.2 points per game.
Senior Jasmine Hassell leads Georgia in scoring with 12.2 points per game, while freshman Shacobia Barbee averages a team-best 5.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.7 steals per game.
