Wills anxious to join Crimson Tide

Jedrick Wills, five-star offensive tackle from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky, revealed his commitment this week to the University of Alabama. He has been one of those 'silent' verbal pledges since the middle of the summer. He decided to wait a while before releasing the video.

"I silently committed when I was down there and never really gave any school outside of UK a real look," Wills told TideSports.com. "I thought I would go ahead with my announcement before I missed my opportunity.

"I felt like Alabama was the place I needed to be when I was on my visit there. I felt like that's where I belong. I love Coach Key (Alabama offensive line coach), Coach Saban and the whole staff. Coach Saban was very straightforward and honest with me. They prepare you to get to the NFL and succeed. That's a goal of mine.

"I've known Coach Ansley since the UK days back in the day, and I just developed that strong relationship with Coach Key this year. They are great guys, even better coaches. I'm very comfortable with them."

Wills hasn't been to Tuscaloosa since July. He is taking his official visit to Alabama next weekend for the Iron Bowl. He has taken three previous unofficial visits to spend time with the No.1 team in the country.

"Everything down there is amazing," Wills responded when asked his thoughts of the campus and facilities. "I love them."

Alabama's top ranked recruiting class has a lot of togetherness. Several have become close friends throughout their recruitment, and several have taken a leading role in helping recruit others to join them in Tuscaloosa.

"Alex (Leatherwood) and I are like brothers," Wills said. "Mac (Jones) and I are more close than others. I've met VanDarius (Cowan) and Najee (Harris)."

The elite prospect has received plenty of kind remarks since he revealed his intentions of where he will play college football. Not all have been positive though.

"Some people are very happy and proud," he said. "Some are pissed off and sending violent tweets and what not.

"I am just relieved to have my decision behind me. I can't wait to get there. I plan on playing right tackle. The team is killing it this year. I am anxious to be a part of it."
