TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama completed the third of 15 spring practices Wednesday at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility. Here are some observations from the media viewing period from
*** Offensive lineman Barrett Jones continues his transition to the center position. The fifth-year senior figures to be a fixture in the middle of the UA offensive line as the Crimson Tide coaching staff looks to replace three-year starter William Vlachos.
*** Suspended wide receivers Michael Bowman, Ronald Carswell, and Duron Carter were not present for the third consecutive practice.
*** Running backs Eddie Lacy and Blake Sims, as well as reserve offensive lineman Arie Kouandjio were unavailable for contact due to injuries.
*** Redshirt freshman Brent Calloway continues his transition from running back to linebacker.
*** Wednesday's practice marked the team's first in full pads since spring drills opened, after practicing twice in shorts.
*** Former UA linebackers Alex Watkins and Jerrell Harris were among practice visitors Wednesday.
