UA athletic dept. priority is athletes and staff

TUSCALOOSA | The top priority for the University of Alabama athletic department today is accounting for all student-athletes, coaches and support staff.
UA spokesman Doug Walker said this morning that he was unaware of any damage to any of the school's athletic facilities, but that an assessment would be made, probably today.

The Alabama softball team rode out Wednesday's storm in Coleman Coliseum with other UA athletic department personnel.
"Back home after a long day," UA head softball coach Patrick Murphy posted on his Twitter account Wednesday night at about 9:45 p.m. "SO many good people out there who checked us us several times today. Such a sad and scary day for lots of people."
No decision has been made yet on whether UA will go forward with its weekend softball series against Kentucky, set for Friday through Sunday. Walker said that decision would likely be made in consultation with the Southeastern Conference office.
Former UA head football coach Gene Stallings cancelled his charity golf tournament, which was scheduled for today and Thursday.
"We just can't play golf right now," he told the Rick and Bubba radio show.
