TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama players worked outside Tuesday as the Crimson Tide held its fifth practice in preparation for its Dec. 29 meeting against Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. Players were dressed in full pads and practiced under sunny, 61-degree weather for the workout. Here are some notes from the media viewing session.
— Outside linebacker Eyabi Anoma was back at practice after missing Monday. The five-star linebacker posted an ambiguous tweet Monday, stating “Made a decision and will stick by it.” Following Monday’s practice, Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave a vague response about Anoma’s absence.
“I haven’t really had the opportunity to visit with him,” Saban said. “He had a personal day I guess to sort some things out. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get him back on track here soon.”
Tuesday, Anoma looked to be at full-go and during drills and seemed to be in good spirits.
— Terrell Lewis (ACL) continues to move well while wearing a brace on his right knee. Anfernee Jennings led the group followed by Christian Miller, Lewis, Jamey Mosley, Ben Davis, Anoma, Cameron Latu and Jarez Parks.
— Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa showed no limitation on his injured left ankle. In fact, it’s unclear whether or not the ankle is still wrapped.
"He’s doing well. I think he’s probably ahead of schedule,” Saban said Monday. “He’s been able to take a lot of reps. He’s been able to throw the ball from the pocket. He can run. I don’t think he’s 100 percent in terms of change of direction yet. But he’s already going 100 percent on the gravity treadmill. So he’s been able to practice and he’s made really, really good progress. So we’re encouraged by that.”
