The University of Alabama worked out in Bryant-Denny Stadium for Fan Day on Sunday with a two-hour afternoon practice that was open to the public. Here are some observations from the media viewing period:
*** Running back Eddie Lacy and tight end Brian Vogler were in black non-contact jerseys Sunday. Although UA coach Nick Saban has given no indication of the status of either, Tidesports.com has reconfirmed that Lacy's injury is not a serious one. Lacy participated in individual drills.
*** Barrett Jones continued to work at left tackle on Sunday. Jones is among the primary candidates to replace first-round draft pick James Carpenter, while Anthony Steen is among the options to backfill at right guard if Jones remains on the edge. ... Freshman Ryan Kelly worked some at right guard with the reserves on Sunday, while
*** Freshman wide receiver DeAndrew White looked good in drillwork and, just a day after Saban praised the Texas native, offensive coordinator Jim McElwain did the same. White, in certain sets, went through some drills with the first offense Sunday.
*** Players worked out in half pads (helmets and shoulder pads) on Saturday but will move into full pads for the first time in camp next week.
