Ruggs works two positions at Alabama camp

Kevontae Ruggs, four-star linebacker from Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama, had a big week in Tuscaloosa. He was evaluated at a couple of different positions at the Crimson Tide's camp.

"The camp was good," Ruggs said. "I worked out at two different positions. The first day I worked out at outside linebacker. On Monday, I worked out at safety. I love both positions.

"Linebacker is the most physical position on defensive besides the defensive line. Playing safety just comes natural to me. I am long, and fast. You can't really get too many passes around me."

Ruggs received positive feedback from his performance at camp.

"I have never really had coaching like that," he said. "They teach you everything. It's hard to mess up when they teach you everything. I really loved working both positions.

"The coaches said they loved the way I go hard every play. They love the effort and ability I have. I wasn't afraid to step up and be a leader. I worked with Tosh Lupoi and Derrick Ansley."

His older brother and Alabama signee, Henry Ruggs, arrived on campus last week. Ruggs spent time with his brother along with a few other Crimson Tide players.

"I have been around Henry, Markail (Benton) and Mack (Wilson)," Ruggs said. "Henry loves it. He says this is where he wants to be. He is working hard. They are trying to get him on the field. They love his ability."

Ruggs plans to wait a while before making a decision. Alabama remains a top contender for his signature.

"I want to wait until after my senior before I make a decision," he said. "I don't want to rush it. Alabama is like one big family. It's a business and you try to go to pros. They work hard, but everyone has a good time. They have fun doing everything they do."

Ruggs plans to camp at Mississippi State, Penn State and Southern Miss.
