Practice report: Tide wraps up spring

The annual A-Day game may have closed out full contact work for the Alabama football team on Saturday, but it didn't quite finish spring drills. The team went through its final practice of the spring Monday in shells (helmets, shoulder pads, shorts) in cold, rainy weather at the Thomas-Drew practice fields.
Of note from Monday's final drills:

*** Several players were in different jerseys Monday. While there has been no official notice of scout work for the Aug. 30 Clemson game, the new numbers just happened to correspond to some of the most talented players on the Tigers roster.
Jeramie Griffin wore No.1, matching Clemson standout James Davis, while Demetrius Goode wore the No.28 of Clemson back C.J. Spiller. Among the scout jerseys spotted on the defensive side were the No.24 of Clemson's Kevin Alexander, and the No.7 of Tigers standout DE Ricky Sapp.
*** Linebacker Charlie Higgenbotham, walk-on receiver Sam Snider and Griffin were among the new faces in black non-contact jerseys.
*** Linebacker Jimmy Johns continued to work at the Sam (strongside) position on Monday. Johns was moved from the weakside a week ago.
*** DB Tyrone King saw some action in the Tide's dime look during recognition work.
