Oregon State Football 2022 Position Analysis: Quarterback

Oregon State's quarterback production in 2022 was certainly a rollercoaster ride as the Beavers saw a variety of up-and-down play throughout the campaign.

2021 starting quarterback Chance Nolan was back in the fold for another campaign and won the job in fall camp for the first time in his career. Ben Gulbranson was named the backup QB behind Nolan, and 2020 starting QB Tristan Gebbia was the third string.

The Beavers opened the season with three straight wins over Boise State, Fresno State, and Montana State before coming back to earth with losses against USC & Utah in back-to-back weeks.

After leading the Beavers to a 3-0 start, Nolan struggled against the Trojans in the conference opener, throwing for just 167 yards and four interceptions as the Beavers fell 17-14. The following week, Nolan threw for 26 yards and two interceptions before suffering what turned out to be a season-ending injury...

Nolan suffered a neck strain against the Utes that caused him to enter concussion protocol, and then that was all for Nolan's time at OSU. It was never announced as a season-ending injury, but rather one that mum was the word. Nolan was also not seen on the sidelines in any of the games throughout the remainder season before he announced his intention to seek the transfer portal.
