Moses ready for greatness

Dylan Moses, Rivals100 linebacker from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, has been participating in elite camps since he was in the 8th grade. He was invited to the Rivals Five-Star Challenge after his freshman year and was on the cover of ESPN the Magazine prior to his sophomore year.

A lot of eyes have been on Moses for the last five years, and he will begin his college career next week. He has been billed as one of the top high school athletes in the country even though he dropped a little in the last year in the Rivals rankings. He still remains only two spots from five-stars.

Moses is fulfilling his dreams and playing in the Under Armour All-America game. He is enrolling next week at the University of Alabama, and he won the high school Butkus Award given to the nation's top linebacker. Alabama All-American Reuben Foster won the Butkus Award this season.

"It means everything," Moses said of the road he has traveled to get to where he is now. "This is the last event of my high school football career. It's a bittersweet type of moment.

"I've been through five years of recruiting. I've had my ups-and-downs. I've gone through some adversity, but at the end of the day I got through it, and now I am ready to get to Alabama.

"I am very excited about getting to Alabama next week. I am trying to take it slow. I am trying to enjoy my time here (Orlando). I am soaking it all in. You only get this chance once. I can be practicing with those boys next week (if Alabama defeats Washington on Saturday). I am not sure if am ready for that.

"I think they are going to win against Washington. I think it will be something like 42-14. I think it will be a lot like when they played Notre Dame. Everyone was high on Notre Dame and thought they could beat Alabama, but we all saw what happened."

Moses hopes to do a little recruiting this week for Alabama before departing for Tuscaloosa.

"I am talking to Xavier McKinney," he said. "I told him to take his time with the process. I told him to come to Alabama if he thinks it's the best thing for him. I'm not going to sit here and tell him it's going to change his life or it will be extraordinary. It will be, but at the same time you have to make sure it's the best decision for you."

Is Moses ready to become a part of the nation's best program?

"I am ready for greatness," he said. "I am ready to be coached by the best and play with the best. I am ready to up my game. I know I am going to get 10x better by going there.

"I love what I have seen from the development of their players and the process those guys went through with the team. With me winning the high school Butkus Award I think it's a foreshadow of what you want later in the future. It's a great feeling."

Moses scared a few people when he took an official visit to LSU in December. The Baton Rouge native, and long-time LSU commitment, gave the Tigers one last opportunity to sway him away from the defending national champions.

"They tried to come on strong at the end," he said. "I tried to give them a chance and just listened to what they had to say. I felt the same way about Alabama after I spoke with LSU and visited them. Alabama is where I want to go. That's where I am going."
