Moore, 73, has been associated with UA athletics for over 50 years since his playing career under head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. He later served as an assistant under Bryant at Alabama, and also with Notre Dame and the NFL Arizona Cardinals.
He joined the athletic administration at Alabama in 1994 and became director of athletics in 1999.
Moore was also hospitalized briefly last August for an irregular heartbeat but was released after two days.
